Pricing & quotes 5 questions
How much does a 3D model cost? +
The price depends on the complexity of the product, the number of variants and the number of materials to integrate. All our projects are quoted on a custom basis after analysis of your catalogue. We give you a precise estimate from the very first meeting — no commitment required.
What does the monthly subscription cover, and what do I get from it? +
The subscription covers the hosting of your configurators, platform maintenance, technical updates, and our human support. Without a subscription, your configurator is not accessible online. Its price is custom: it depends on the number of hosted models, the total asset file size, the number of available textures and the features activated.
What happens if I cancel my subscription? +
The configurator is removed from your site. However, all your 3D files are returned to you — GLB, OBJ, FBX and texture files. You own your 3D models outright. If you wish to relaunch at a later date, the reactivation fees are limited to reconfiguring the platform, without redoing the modeling.
Is there an offer with no upfront setup fee? +
In some cases, we can offer a zero setup fee in exchange for a 2-year subscription commitment. This option is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the product volume and the project profile. Discuss it during your first meeting.
Do I have to pay the subscription as soon as the quote is signed? +
No. The subscription only starts once your configurator is live and operational. During the modeling and configuration phase, only the initial deposit is required. You only pay the subscription when you are actually using it.
3D Modeling 5 questions
I only have photos of my product. Is that enough? +
Yes, in most cases. We need front, side and top photos to reconstruct the exact proportions. Detail shots (stitching, legs, handles) are a bonus. You can also send us a physical sample if you are close to Montpellier. We will tell you from the first exchange exactly what we need for your specific product.
What input file formats do you accept? +
We accept all common formats: SolidWorks, SketchUp, Blender, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, OBJ, FBX, STL, STEP, GLB — and of course photos or technical drawings. If you already have a 3D model from a previous provider, we assess its compatibility. If you have nothing, we start from scratch.
How long does it take to model a product? +
Between 3 and 10 days depending on complexity. A simple object (cushion, vase, mug) takes 2–3 days. A piece of furniture with fabric simulation, mechanisms or many sculpted details can take 7–10 days. For an entire catalogue, we establish a batch delivery schedule. You approve each model before moving on to the next.
Do the 3D models belong to me? +
Yes, entirely. All source files are delivered to you — GLB, OBJ, FBX, as well as the texture files. You can use them on other platforms, for marketing, print, or hand them over to another provider. No dependency on 3DVue for your assets.
Can you model an entire catalogue of dozens of products? +
Yes, that is actually the most common use case. We work on catalogues ranging from 5 to over 100 references. The larger the volume, the more we can optimise the cost per model — some pieces share a base geometry and only the variants need to be modeled. Tell us about your full catalogue at the first meeting for an overall quote.
Configurator 5 questions
How does customisation work inside the configurator? +
Your customer lands on your product page and sees the configurator directly embedded. They click on an option (colour, fabric, finish, component) and the 3D model updates in real time — no page reload. Once their configuration is finalised, they can place an order. You receive the order with all the chosen options.
Can you manage optional elements such as armrests or shelves? +
Yes. Optional elements work just like any other option: the user clicks to add or remove the element and the model updates instantly. Armrests, shelves, interchangeable legs, lids, extensions — anything that can be added to or removed from the product can be managed in the configurator.
Does the configurator work on mobile and tablet? +
Yes, fully. The configurator is optimised for mobile, tablet and desktop. On mobile, your customer can rotate the model with their finger, zoom in and change options. The rendering is adapted to device capability — models are lightened to guarantee fast loading even on a 4G connection.
Can the configurator be deployed on a tablet in a physical store? +
Absolutely. The configurator runs in a browser — simply create a dedicated page on your site, full screen or in kiosk mode. Your web agency or developer can set this up quickly. This is common practice among our furniture and textile clients for their showrooms.
Can you add engraving or raised lettering on the product? +
Raised engravings (such as lettering carved into the material) are technically complex and expensive in 3D. In most cases, we recommend a logo or text applied as a surface decal — the result is very convincing and much better suited to a real-time configurator. If volume engraving is essential to your product, we discuss feasibility at the first meeting.
Integration & platforms 4 questions
Which e-commerce platforms does the configurator support? +
The configurator works on any platform that accepts an embed code: Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, WordPress, WiziShop, Magento, and any custom-built site. If your platform accepts HTML in a product page, we can integrate it. We provide complete integration documentation for each platform.
How long does integration on my site take? +
From a few hours to a few days depending on your platform and technical level. On Shopify or WooCommerce, integrating a simple configurator usually takes half a day. For more advanced integrations (cart connection, ERP synchronisation, dedicated pages), allow 2–5 days with your developer. We provide all the necessary documentation.
Do I need a developer to integrate the configurator? +
For a basic iframe integration, no — it is a copy-paste of code into your product page, manageable by a webmaster or a WordPress administrator. For advanced integration (cart connection, dynamic options, automatic order data transmission), a developer is recommended. We can also handle the integration directly if needed.
Is the 3D model optimised so it does not slow down my site? +
That is our technical priority. Each model is optimised for the web: texture compression, polygon reduction, progressive loading. A well-optimised configurator loads in 2–4 seconds on a standard connection. If your original 3D file is very heavy (industrial files with millions of faces, for example), we perform a complete retopology before integrating it.
Files & proofing 3 questions
How does the proofing (BAT) feature work in the configurator? +
The configurator automatically generates a digital print-ready proof from the configuration chosen by your customer. This file (SVG or PDF) contains all selected options, dimensions, colours and personalisation zones. Your customer approves this proof before confirming their order. You receive the production file directly — no email back-and-forth, no risk of error.
What file formats will I receive at delivery? +
At delivery of your modeling you receive: the 3D source files (GLB, OBJ, FBX as required), the texture files (high-resolution PNG, PBR files), and the integration documentation. For the proofing part, the configurator generates SVG or vector PDF files ready for production, depending on the type of personalisation.
Can I reuse my 3D models on other tools or platforms? +
Yes, with no restrictions whatsoever. Your 3D files belong entirely to you — you can use them for marketing (video, animation, digital catalogue), print, augmented reality, or hand them to another configurator or 3D provider. The delivered formats (GLB, OBJ, FBX) are standard and compatible with all professional software.
Resellers & agencies 2 questions
Is there an offer for agencies that want to resell the solution to their clients? +
Yes. We offer a reseller plan that lets you invoice the service to your client at any price you choose. You keep the margin, we stay in the background. Integration on your client's site remains your responsibility. The reseller rate is set on a custom basis according to volumes. To discuss the terms, book a meeting with us.
Can the configurator run as a white label across multiple reseller sites? +
Yes, that is possible. The configurator can be embedded via iframe on your resellers' sites without 3DVue being visible. Each reseller site must integrate the code itself — we provide the documentation. If you manage several resellers, we can set a pricing adapted to the volume.
